Korumburra1
Mar 3rd 1894
Baron von Mueller
Dear Sir
I have just sent you another specimen of the Thistle. It has creeping perennial roots & grows in patches in the same manner as Baken2 Fern, I can see no difference in the flower heads but notice that it does not spread by seed only by root and as fast as it is cut down it grows again from the root. Judging by this I should say there is only one sex of flower here, of course I expect an occasionall male & female flower can be found but this seems rare.
I enclose also a few heads of cocksfoot grass, D. Glomerata3 which has fungs which seem to me identical with the ergot fung, if this is so will it injure my stock & can I do any thing to prevent or remedy this?
I remain yours respectfully
Walter Johnston Jnr
