The small clover, of which your son Wilhelm1 sent specimens, dear Clara, is "the annual strawberry clover, Trifolium resupinatum." It is a useful pasture herb, and for that reason I have also included it in my work Select extra-tropical plants. Perhaps you do not have one of the more recent editions of the work.2 Seeds cannot be purchased, but as it bears heavily, enough seeds can soon be obtained for further sowing. But the plant also spreads easily without culture. I should like to know your son's opinion on the value of the plant there.
Your
Ferd. von Mueller.
This clover grows wild at the Mediterranean Sea.
