From Ferdinand von Mueller to Alexander Macdonald   19 Apr 1894

19/4/94.

Herewith, dear Mr Macdonald, my little contribution to the fund of the orphans of poor M. Meslee1 though this almost exhausts [my] bid [...] Bank account. While I was at the meeting Capt Pasco called, and not finding me, left the enclosed letter, offering £1 May I advise to mention in your reply at once the particulars of subscriptions obtained at the outset already. It will cheer our Sydney Colleagues.

As regards our finances the best remedy would be, if each member of Council would strive to get some life members.

With regardful remembrance

your

Ferd. von Mueller

Edmond Marin La Meslée and his wife drowned in December 1893 in a boating accident on Sydney Harbour.
