From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Australasian   29 June 1894

["G.T." (Raebourne)1—Baron von Mueller informs us that the shrub sent is an Eremophila, but as no flowers are on the small branchlet forwarded the exact name of the species cannot yet be made out. The genus comprises about 70 species. On several occasions Baron Mueller says he has received specimens of Eremophila with a view of eliciting whether these plants are poisonous, which is quite possible, although in no instance has deleterious effects yet been traced. Baron Mueller advises that an experiment be made at Hammersley Station in feeding a calf or a sheep for some time exclusively with foliage of the suspected plant. By these means the question would be clearly settled, and the post-mortem appearances might indicate remedies.]

Eremophila

Typesetter's error for Roebourne, a town in the Pilbara region of WA, where the Hamersley pastoral run is also located.
