From Ferdinand von Mueller to Robert Broom   24 Aug 1894

24/8/94

Best thanks for your kind letter, dear Dr Broom, and the information, which it conveyed. The deep ravines at the Upper Macleay-River1 are as yet imperfectly explored for their vegetation; indeed some of them have never been thus far examined. Perhaps Settlers near these abysses, could be induced to let youths2 of theirs collect all sorts of plants in these deep vallied, and bring a couple of handkerchiefs full to you for selecting specimens therefrom. This could probably be done at a trifling expense, and it would involve little trouble to yourself. Doubtless novelties exist yet in these exist yet in these3 gorges, for the discovery of which you would get full credit.

It is very kind of you to offer me an extraprint of your important abstract treatise,4 as I can utilize it in my litterary interchanges. Among the fine medical periodicals, which I get regularly, is also the Sydney Medical Gazette5

Most regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller
