The specimen with this record number, MEL 0703944, listed as having "flowers" with no mention of buds or fruit, is identified as Eucalyptus socialis (AVH, accessed 4 August 2024). It is not necessarily the specimen M is reporting here, although no other use of the number has been found in the Hussey correspondence.
This number not used for a Hussey specimen at MEL.
Item is a typescript, transcriber unknown, prepared ca. 1977 from an original MS in the State Library of South Australia, Adelaide.
Of the record numbers that are present, M's names match the names used in the Hussey collection in MEL or are synonyms. The record numbers follow on from M to J. Hussey, November 1894 (in this edition as 98-11-00d) and are the last of the Hussey specimens dated to 1894. The numbers that follow on are listed in M to J. Hussey, January 1895 (in this edition as 96-01-00g). The letter is therefore dated as December 1894 as the latest it is likely to have been written.
