To Baron Sir. F. Von Mueller
Melbourne
My Lord
The Pimelea no 321 is growing in the Goolwa2 scrub-land about four or five miles from here — in the same place where I gathered "Pultenaea densifolia" — By same post I send a whole plant which is the average size, though I saw a few from fifteen to eighteen inches high, but these were straggly. This Pimelea is growing very freely for about two miles along the Railway line between here & Goolwa, you will find some seeds of it in the parcel, and perhaps a few ripe ones amongst them.3
I thank you for lists of names of plants duly received, also seeds of Euchlaena mexicana
Yesterday I was conversing with a farmer, whose farm is in Hindmarsh Valley about 9 miles from here — he told me he grew "Euchlaena luxurians" last year from seeds obtained from the Central Ag Bureau, his plants attained a height of 10 feet in about ten months, but did not flower — I said the valley would perhaps not be as favourable for its full development as open land — He has accepted a few of your seeds, and will try again, we will also grow it here to compare the localities.
I do not know when is the best time to sow the seeds —
I am yours respectfully
