Hobart,
Dec 30th /94.
Dear Baron,
I have been a journey through the Hartz & Adamson Ranges.1
I enclose a specimen of a grass that differs from any Erhrarta2 I am acquainted with Its spikelets approach Tetrarrhena but with the inflorescence of Diplax. The habit is tufted, erect & leaves narrow or rather subulate, the outer persistant glumes are longer than in its nearer allies & it appears to consistantly bear but one stamen. It is widely diffused on Adamsons Peak growing with Diplax tasmanica.
I also enclose flowering specimens of Eriostemon Oldfieldii. I believe the flowers have not been seen in good condition before. It grows on a spur of Adamson's at 3,000 ft.
I found also: —
Milligania Stylosa on Adamson's. Perianth segments 4-6 lines long
Dracophyllum Milligani on Adamson's
Milligania densiflora Adamson to Hartz.
| Helichrysum Milligani | } | on Adamsons. |
| Archeria serpillifolia3 | ||
| Azorella dichopetela | ||
| Senecio papillosus | ||
| Coprosma Moorei | ||
| Diplaspis hydrocotyle | ||
| Abrotanella scapigera | ||
| Actinotus suffocata | ||
| Donatia Novae Zelandiae | } | on Adamson's & Hartz. |
| Forstera bellidifolia | ||
| Richea pandanifolia | ||
| " Milligani | ||
| Aciphylla procumbens | ||
Gaimardia fitzgeraldi very abundant in flower I enclose a quantity. |
| Actinotus Moorei | } | on Hartz |
| Hymenophyllum Malingii on A. selaginoides4 | ||
| Eucalyptus vernicosa always 1-flowered |
I examined G. fitzgeraldi carefully when I got home & I find no variation of importance from the diagnosis we have already made. I will probably add a plate of the plant in a flowering condition.5
I trust my grass is new.
With best wishes,
Ever Yours Faithfully
L Rodway.
P.S. I will record these plants in a paper before the R. S.6 next month.
