My dear Sir,

Dr Selwyn2 to whom kind note of Nov 4th is addressed,3 is at present in England, but I have much pleasure in thanking you on his behalf & that of the Survey for the information & printed papers on [artesian borings] which you have so kindly [obtained]4

May I also ask you to [convey] our thanks & acknowledgements to Mr [Stuart Massey]5 for the [trouble he has] taken in supplying the notes which accompany your letter. All the [material sent] together with the further [facts] you allude to from other Australian colonies will be of essential service [to us] as efforts are now being made in the direction of irrigation & well sinking in various parts of the North West Territories.

Believe me

Yours very truly
