From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Australasian   22 Jan 1895

["South Gembrook."—Baron Sir Frederick1 von Mueller reports, that No. 1 is Acacia suaveolens, No. 2 Leptospermum scoparium. As to subduing these two kinds of shrubs, it seems advisable to burn them off repeatedly, as pasture animals would not resort to them. These plants like humid ground, and if the locality of their growth was drained they would more readily disappear. It may be necessary to eradicate them actually, though that is a toilsome process. Raising of the cocksfoot grass and other strong perennial pasture plants would help to conquer these shrubs, and would enhance the feeding capabilities of the locality.]
