No. 81 is used in M to J. Hussey, October 1893 (in this edition as 93-10-00g), where the entry is 'No flowers'. However, the two specimens with this number in MEL have collection dates as 1894, for one identified as Asteraceae, and 1895 for the Poaceae Distichlis distichophylla, of which Distichlis maritima is a synonym.

Number not used in Hussey collection at MEL.

Euphorbia drummondi?

Number not used in the Hussey collection at MEL. It was also used for Cryptandra in M to J. Hussey, May 1894 (in this edition as 94-05-00b).

Item is a typescript, transcriber unknown, prepared ca. 1977 from an original MS in the State Library of South Australia, Adelaide.

Only the record numbers 81, 358 and 365 are used in MEL. M's names are synonyms or a partial synonym of the identifications listed in MEL (AVH, accessed 4 August 2024; APNI, accessed 24 August 2024). Record no. 357 follows on from the highest number in M to J. Hussey, February 1895 (in this edition as 95-02-00f), but no. 365 is omitted from the list that contains numbers in the range 360 to 380 (M to J. Hussey, April 1895 (in this edition as 95-04-00f)). Hussey was known to draw the attention of the Port Elliot Agricultural Bureau to poison risks when M notified her. It is possible that M reported this species urgently as soon as the next set of plants arrived, although no mention of the Euphorbia has been found in news about Bureau meetings in 1895. If this letter was written before very late February, it is unlikely that Hussey would not have also mentioned the Euphorbia when reporting the risks of Datura stramonium to the meeting of 2 March (see notes to 95-02-00f). The letter is therefore dated to March 1895 as the most probable time it was written.
