From Ferdinand von Mueller to Herbert Williamson   2 Mar 1895

2/3/95

The Stypelia,1 sent by you, dear Mr Williamson, is S. lanceolata Smith. The other plant is the S. European Lactuca saligna.

My attention is so much engaged on rural work for the benefit of the bread-winning people, that unimportant work on plants, requiring time-taking critical examination must by the many Amateurs be allowed to stand over for a while. I will however name at once anything, requiring no special researches. I am also extra-busy in long hours daily work for preparing the 9th Edition of the "Select plants" for the press [...]2

Am still eager to get crudely dried Algs, as they serve so well for foreign interchanges.3

Styphelia?

A section of the page, probably including the valediction, has been cut out of the MS. The file includes several of M's valedictions that have been cut out of letters, but none matches the gap in this sheet.

See notes to M to T. Reinbold, 8 December 1889.
