To Pier Saccardo   8 March 1895

8/3/95

Allow me, dear Prof Saccardo, to place before you the enclosed specimen for the valuable opinion of yours as that of a leading specialist.

Would you find it possible to compile a Census of Australian fungaceous plants in conformity with my Census of Vascular plants of Australia?1 You may be able to improve on what has been done by Dr Cooke in his special volume.2 In 1896 the third Census is due,3 and I have asked now also Agardh, J. Mueller and Brotherus, whether they, — perhaps by the help of local University-Students would be able to put to gether such a list, so that the Evasculares could also appear in the Census of 1896. In your case your great work and Cooke's volume would need to be cited.

Most regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller

Cooke (1892).
The projected volume was never published.
