From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Coolgardie Miner   [May 1895]

[Baron Von Mueller, government botanist of Victoria has kindly forwarded several packets of exotic plant seeds for experimental planting in Coolgardie.]1

In 1895, samples of exotic seeds from M had been received by a number of people. However, the transmission may not have been direct to the ultimate recipient; see notes to M to P. MacGillivray, March 1895 (in this edition as 95-03-00), and for WA, to M to M. Jephson, July 1895 (in this edition as 95-07-00). Newspapers were often used as the intermediates; thus for M's 1893 distribution of plants of Panicum spectabile, see M to Bairnsdale advertiser and Tambo and Omeo chronicle, 16 March 189§13, and notes thereto.

Letter not found. The text given here is from Coolgardie miner, 24 May 1895, p. 2, col. g. M's transmission is dated to May 1895 as the latest it could have been sent to have been reported in this issue of the newspaper.
