To Ada Armytage   11 June 1895

11/6/95

You wrote me so joyfully1 about the supposed discovery of the north pole dear Miss Armytage, that I owe it to your offering some explanation, why I believed in the story. Perhaps some day soon I can explain to you orally more fully how it was, that I was carried away by my geographic enthusiasm.

Tomorrow evening (Wednesday) a discourse with lime light views will be given in the Prahran Town Hall2 by an arctic voyager Mr Wilkinson, which some of you, not engaged for their [Ball], may like to hear and see [there] also the pictural displays.

Remember me kindly to your worthy mother and let me remain

Regardfully

your Ferd von Mueller.

It is not farther from the N. of Franz Josephs Land to the N. pole than from Port Phillip to Port Adelaide
