To Alfred Hardy   14 June 1895

14/6/95.

By an oversight, dear Mr Hardy, your letter remained unattended to til now, which will be all the more excusable as I was not well for a forthnight, and as my ever much taxed time was still more occupied by the additional duty of seeing the 9th Edition (enlarged) of the "Select Plants for industrial culture1 through the press.

Your wish for induction into science circles of England2 can best be served by putting your honored name on some of my visitors Cards. If you present the Cards at various science Institutions in Britain and on the European Continent and in America, you will doubtless obtain that attention desired by you.

With regardful remembrance your

Ferd. von Mueller

Hardy went to Britain in 1895 and later to Canada before returning to Australia.
