I beg to inform you2 that the Government has decided that from the 1st proximo your branch of this Department is to be amalgamated with this office and placed under one Division Administration and [benefit] in the Estimates for 1895/6 and that consequently the Salaries of yourself and your officers will be paid by this Office from the date above mentioned.

A minute from the Chief Secretary's Office, dated 25 June 1895, that prompted this letter is attached to it: 'It will be best to inform Baron Von Mueller of the change to be made from 1st July in regard to payment of the salaries in his branch'.
