Seeds (taken out of the fruit) acceptable. The fruits after some few weeks drying open, and the seeds drop out. Do not trouble about them, unless the plants are near to you.

418. Caladenia Menziesii, R. Br.3
Your present Algs go off to Sweden. Some are quite fascinating! You will likely get some of them yet in fruits and propagating buds.4
Always regardfully your

Caladenia Menziesii
Cyrtostylis reniformis
Hakea rostrata
Prostanthera coccinea
Also listed in M to J. Hussey, November 1894 (in this edition as 94-11-00d), where the specimen is not identified but the number has the comment 'not well developed', and in M to J. Hussey, January 1895 (in this edition as 95-01-00g) where it is identified as Prostanthera coccinea. APC (accessed 17 September 2024) describes it as a name of uncertain application; APNI (accessed 17 September 2024) indicates it has been used as a pro parte synonym of at least four species; MEL has this number as Prostanthera chlorantha.
Number used twice in Hussey collection at MEL, Hakea rostrata (undated) and Fabaceae (dated 1895).
Number used twice in Hussey collection at MEL: Leptoceras menziesii (of which Caladenia Menziesii is a synonym) dated August 1895 and the unrelated Senecio gregorii, dated 1895.
No letter from M to J. Agardh dated close to August 1895 has been found; the next surviving letter is M to J. Agardh, 11 August 1896. The paragraph before the valediction is published in Kraehenbuehl (1981a), p. 392, attributed to an 'Undated letter'.
Item is a typescript, transcriber unknown, prepared ca. 1977 from an original MS in the State Library of South Australia, Adelaide.
There are two specimens numbered 418; one of them and 419 are dated as August 1895. (AVH, accessed 4 August 2024). They are listed as synonyms of the names used here (see notes below). This letter is therefore dated to August as the earliest it could have been sent.
