420. Hybanthus floribunda F.v.M.
Later in the season I should feel obliged for seeds
423. Corysanthes pruinosa Cunningham
I hardly think, that a parcel of your land plants remained unnamed, dear Miss Hussey, as I managed somehow to make each time, when a sending arrived, the needful time for ordinary (but not critical) examinations free. If not in about a months time you receive an additional list, then it will be best to send the missing plants once more.1
You may have more than one Corysanthus there (easily confused).
Corysanthes pruinosa
Hybanthus floribunda
There is no gap in the numerical sequence of record numbers in the determination sheets consistent with a large parcel, although there are occasional gaps of one or two numbers missing. There are only three numbered Hussey specimens collected in 1895 at MEL that do not appear in a determination list, and these are not sequential. However, there are duplicate record numbers 2-8, 10, 17, of which one specimen in each case is dated 1894, and the other 1895. None of these numbers is used twice in the determination sheets.
Item is a typescript, transcriber unknown, prepared ca. 1977 from an original MS in the State Library of South Australia, Adelaide.
M's names match the names used in the Hussey collection in MEL or are synonyms. The numbers run on directly from M to J. Hussey, August 1895 (in this edition as 95-08-00h), and before those in M to J. Hussey, September 1895 (in this edition as 95-09-00f). It is therefore dated to September as the latest likely date it was written.
