Are the fresh petals blue or pink? In the latter case this would be perhaps only a form of E. cicutarium l'Heritier.

Introduced. Specific name later.1

424. Acianthus exsertus, R. Br.

might by cultivation be rendered an esculent for root.

Perhaps form of L. varius L. or L. hirsutus L. Fruit also required.
With best greeting

Item is a typescript, transcriber unknown, prepared ca. 1977 from an original MS in the State Library of South Australia, Adelaide.
All the plant names used by M match the details given for MEL (AVH, accessed 4 August 2024), are synonyms or match to genus (APC, accessed 29 August 2024). All are dated to 1895. Record numbers 420 and 423 are missing from this sequence but are the only two numbers used in M to J. Hussey, September 1895 (in this edition as 95-09-00e), the letter that assured her that a parcel of plants had not been left unexamined. It is likely that that note was sent as soon as this parcel arrived, before the remaining specimens were determined. The sequence here is followed by that in M to J. Hussey, October 1895 (in this edition as 95-10-00f) where some specimens are dated to 4 October 1995. The present item is therefore dated to September as the latest date it could have been written.
