Sale. Vic.

Oct. 1st 1895.

Dear Sir Ferdinand,

I have to acknowledge receipt of both your letters2 and to thank you very much indeed for your kindness in writing to me. I shall try to procure the ripe fruits of the Styphelias to send you, as I should like very much to be able to distinguish the two species. I am glad you were pleased with the Caladenia Cairnsiana and as we had collected a number yesterday I thought they might be useful for your correspondents and so forwarded them to you today.

We had a holiday from school and we spent it in a trip down the Port Albert Road collecting plants. My sister Lillie was fortunate enough to find a specimen of Pterostylis barbata and as it is the first of the species we have heard of being found here, she duly forwarded it to you, as it may be a new record for this district.

Caladenia Cairnsiana are exceedingly plentiful this season in all parts of Longford. Caladenia Patersoni are also plentiful, at least we call several varieties by that name, whether rightly or not. I enclosed two specimens with the C. Cairnsiana so that should it be a mistake you will I know with your extreme kindness correct it. We also found a very red variety about a fortnight ago.

We have only found one good specimen of Acianthus caudatus since Miss Bennett sent hers. We shall be delighted at some future time to publish a list of the species of plants indigenous to this district.

With very kindest regards

I am

Yours sincerely

May Wise.
