From Jessie Hussey1    4 October 1895

To Baron von Mueller

Melbourne

My Lord,

The registered parcel of letters came safely to hand on Tuesday, and please accept my best thanks for all the contents. I feel deeply sensible of the kindness, and honour you do me by devoting so much of your valuable time to me. It was very kind of your to check my list of names so promptly, and also to write out the names of plants I should yet find here — all this is greatly appreciated by me, and is far more than I expected. I do not know how to thank your for all your kindness to me —

I have already found Posidonia Australis, and Cymodocea Zosterifolia here, but omitted them from the list. I also omitted Scleranthus pungens, and several others. I will check all the names very carefully when I prepare the list for the press, which will perhaps not be till the end of next year, as I would like to collect another hundred plants if possible. Then I would be glad if you will see the list again before I send it to the Printer.

I thank you for the information regarding Harvey's work on algae. I have heard that Mr Matthews of Yorketown2 has a large illustrated work on algae. My eldest brother tell3 me that Mr Matthews is aged now, so he thinks he would perhaps sell the volumes. I will inquire — I have also to thank you for your kind letter received today.4 I do not think anyone knows of the Cotula, Plantago, and Helipterum growing here. I never show my specimens, or speak of them to anyone till they have been determined by you, unless other collectors find the same plants and show them to me. I have not received a copy of the Key to the System of Vict. Plants referred to by you,5 and would be very glad to have it.

Letter for Prof Agardh herewith, which will you kindly forward to him6

with kind regards yours sincerely

Jessie L. Hussey
