From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Australasian   22 Nov 1895

["J.H.L." (Bourke1).—Baron Sir F. von Mueller identifies your plants as — No. 1. Tribulus terrestris, a plant from southern Europe, which has spread over a considerable area of Australia. It is a troublesome weed, on account of its spiney fruit. 2. Solanum esuriale—Is found in arid districts of the interior. Like all the Solanums or night shades it is poisonous. As these plants are not indigenous to Britain there are no common names for them.]
