From Ferdinand von Mueller to Jacob Agardh   6 Jan 1896

6/1/96

This time, honoured friend, a consignment of prepared algae (in two parcels) just arrived here from Miss Hussey is being sent to you again, honoured friend. Number 444 is quite new to me but may be an animal structure. The Bellotia strikes me because the adenophores are not thickened towards the base, but which may be due to circumstances of age. The specimen looks unusual (not similar to Eriophorum)1 since it rolled about in the sand. I have cited Encounter Bay2 for the locality in volume XI of the Fragmenta phytographiae Australiae (1881).3

It will please me and my algae collectors very much to hear from you very soon, and especially to know as well that you are well, and give us new information.

With best New Year greetings your

Ferd. von Mueller

Bellotia Eriophorum

i.e. Bellotia eriophorum.

This part of Volume 11 was issued in November 1880; the locality is given in B80.11.01, p. 6.
