From Ferdinand von Mueller to Alexander Crawford   15 Jan 1896

15/1/96.

Am much beholden to you, dear Mr Crawford, for sending so thoughtfully the seeds of Albizzia pruinosa. I will send them in horticultural interchanges all over the world.

This tree is restricted to East Australia. Does it grow up to occasional frosty elevations with you? How high up the ranges. Does it exude Gum? Is the wood of particular utility

The lemon-scented Grass is Eragrostis pilosa. It may be that the odor is only exceptionally developed. Your note on the fragrance of Andropogon montanus is of interest. Is it only the flowerscence1 that smells? What Is the scent like?

With best new years wishes your
