From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Leader   [Mar 1896]1

[Specimen of Grass.— A. H., Coimadai.2— Your [sp]ecimen,3 Baron von Mueller reports, is a species of [Se]taria, which has bristles like those on the British [Se]taria verticillata, but they are much shorter, [an]d therefore not objectionable to the extent of [cli]nging to the fleeces or hides of flocks and herds. [Alt]hough it is a small grass, it is evidently valuable [f]or its tenderness of texture, for the broadness of [it]s leaves and for holding out so late in the season.]
