Baron F. von Mueller, K.C.M.G. &c

Government Botanist

Melbourne

Sir

Adverting to my letter of the 26th Ultimo2 I have now the honor to forward, under separate cover, a parcel each of "Marram Grass" and Acacia Sphorea,3 the latter should be soaked in boiling water for 24 hours before being planted. The Ranger Mr Wm Stewart, has not much faith in the Marram seed for it does not maturate here although the plants flourish, good seed is obtainable from Barr & Son, King Street, Covent Garden, London.

I should deem it a great favor if you could supply the Council with some seeds or plants of "Muntries" which grows so well along the coast near Port McDonnell and makes an excellent preserve.4

Thanking you in anticipation

I have the honor to be

Sir

Your most obedient Servant

H. E. Lawson

Town Clerk.
