From Ferdinand von Mueller to Maria Henley   2 Apr 1896

2/4/96

Let me thank you, dear Miss Henley, for the ample supply of the Mesembrianthemum edule,1 which now in autumn I will endeavour to start for naturalisation in such regions of the interior, in which no Rabbits abound. If you have pastural friends in any sandy or saline tracts of the country, let them try also to render the pasturage enriched by this mesembrianthemum.

Herewith I send you seeds of a new perennial Cabbage, only raised in Hannover 2 years ago. It is just (seeds) introduced by me, and promises to become a great acquisition also to Australia.

Bear kindly in mind, that you and your friends can render a service to science by gathering the minutest2 land-plants and uncommon water-plants

With best greeting to all of you

Ferd. von Mueller.
