From Ferdinand von Mueller to William Setchell   17 July 1896

17/7/96

It needs not my assurance, dear Prof Sechell, that I will always name for you plants, more particularly those from Australia, concerning which you may have doubts there.1 In the great genera, such as Acacia and Eucalyptus, it needs however specimens as well in flower as in fruit. If you made out a list, which species you have already, I could send the seeds of additional kinds as opportunities may arise from time to time.

I shall be greatly beholden to you if you will kindly for the forth coming 10th Edition2 of the "Select Plants" furnish notes on important West-American Grasses and fodder-herbs and other prominently utilitarian plants not yet recorded in that work.

Perhaps my old friend, Dr Behr, may from his long experience afford you also some rural data.

Can you kindly send seeds of Audibertia, as it is so much praised as an honey-plant

Very regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller

Acacia

Audibertia

Eucalyptus

M may have been responding to Setchell's thanking him for an earlier set of identifications; see M to W. Setchell, 6 March 1896 (in this edition as 96-03-06a).
