From Ferdinand von Mueller to Kurt Lampert   24 Aug 1896

24/8/96.

As you will gather from the enclosed letter,1 highly esteemed Professor, the young Mr French,2 who received his education as assistant under me, sent me a specimen, almost unique, of a hybrid bird, which "specimen" I am now sending you through the post. Mr French's name should find mention in any note to be published about it.3 Would you kindly send me a postcard when the specimen arrives whether it remained intact in the weak packing (with the limited postal weight)?

Respectfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.
