Diesmal möchte ich hauptsächlich vorfragen, lieber Herr Holtze, ob Sie Samen von Phylloxera widerstehenden Vitis Arten u Hybriden gebrauchen können. Ich habe kürzlich welche mir aus Frankreich und Nordamerika senden lassen, u würde Ihnen gern ohne Zahlung eine Portion senden, und damit etwas von meiner Schuld bei Ihnen abtragen. Freilich sind diese Samen vom letzten nordischen Herbst, aber doch noch ganz keimfähig.
Ist Ihr 2tr Sohn nach Central Australien zurückgekehrt? In diesen Falle möchte ich gern, dass die kleinsten Annuellen wehrend1 dieses Frühlings in seiner Nähe gesammelt würden. Ermuthigen Sie auch Ihren ältesten Sohn, gelegentlich ein Päckchen getrockneter Pflanzen zu senden. Es wird ja Alles für den grossen Supplement Band der Flora Australiensis verwerthet.

This time I want to enquire mainly, dear Mr Holtze, whether you could use seeds of Phylloxera-resistant Vitis species and hybrids. I have had some sent to me recently from France and North America and would be happy to send you a portion gratis and thus repay a little of my debt to you. These seeds are, of course, from the last northern autumn,3 but still quite viable.
Has your second son4 returned to Central Australia? In that case I should like to get the smallest annuals from his vicinity collected during this spring. Do also encourage your oldest son5 to send a package of dried plants occasionally. It will all be utilized for the great supplement volume to the Flora Australiensis.6

At this period the Northern Territory was administratively part of SA, and it is uncertain whether M is including that territory in his question. There are no high peaks in the west of SA south of the ranges near the north-west border with the Northern Territory.
