The final parts (nos 2,3) of Lehmann (1844-7), vol. 2, issued in August 1848? M carried vol. 1 of Lehmann’s work with him to Australia in 1847. it seems likely that he would have left an order with a bookseller in Hamburg for a copy of the remainder of the work when it appeared, wih instructions that this be sent to Sonder for forwarding to Australia; the present note suggests that the bookseller sent the work to Sonder without explaining that it was for M. M certainly acquired a copy of the second volume at an early date; see M to W. Hooker, 18 October 1853.
