From Charles La Trobe to Ronald Gunn   27 October 1853

Melbourne 27 October 1853

My dear Gunn

I send you the first copy at my disposal of Dr Müllers report upon our Vegetation.1 It is one you will read with interest — & admit does him great credit. I consider myself very fortunate to have secured to the Colony a man of class and talent — & perseverance —

You have now old Mr Swainson — much good may he do you. His report & 'wonderful discover[ies]' are also in the printers hands2 — & you shall have them in due time —

I have heard nothing as yet of my successor3

Yrs in gt. haste

but very truly

C. J. Latrobe
