From George Sprigg to H. Butler   25 May 1864

May 25th [186]4

Dear Sir

By the "Bollingbroke" which sailed on the 14th Inst I sent you a mastive dog (a very fine specimen) and 40 magpies. These I trust will reach you safely. I must say I am somewhat disappointed at not having received something from you [ere] this as it does us but little good to [hear] of what you have at Calcutta eating their heads off. Dr Mueller asks me to send this dog or else I should not have done so as I thought it would be of little use.

I am

Dear Sir

Yours faithfully

Geo Sprigg

Secy

To H. L. Butler Esq

Calcutta
