My dear Fanny1

I have to be in London on business on Monday afternoon and will come to you about 6 o’clock I expect for the night. I had a letter from Mrs. Gorringe about a week ago sending us an old ring which she thought I would like to have as a memento of Miss Roberts. She said that the affairs were not settled yet but that she would be able [2] to carry out Miss Robert’s wishes as regards you. The ring is a mourning ring about 100 years old "In memory of Rich[ar]d Russell Esq". died 1784 -" I suppose it was given to old Mrs. Robert’s & that it was the Mr. Russell after whom, or after whose wife, twas named.

Your portraits of "Sitting Bull" & the other Indians ought to sell now as there is so much about them in the papers.

Hoping yourself & Thomas are quite well.

Believe me | Your affectionate Brother | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

ARW’s sister, Frances Sims (1812-1893).
