May 10, 1869.
My dear Sir,
A lady of my acquaintance who is deeply interested in a mystic subject known to us, and who has read a little treatise of yours, is exceedingly anxious to have the honour of your acquaintance. May I ask the favour of your calling upon her some day when it [2] suits your convenience. She is a lady of fortune, of good Scotch connections, her name Miss Douglas1, her residence No 81 South Audley Street. If I were to be in town for a sufficient length of time, I would endeavour to see you myself, with a view of soliciting you to accompany me to Miss [3] Douglas’s. I hope for the pleasure of seeing you in some other occasion, and remain for the present
Yours very faithfully | R. Chambers. [signature]
