Dear Dr Wallace,

I enclose the will of Elizabeth Roberts. I have been to Somerset House today & have searched the registers from 1836-1844 for the will of John Roberts. Among the many persons of these two names I selected two who died in Surrey within those years, but they did not prove to be the right man. I also had another look for Sutherton Roberts the elder, also in vain. Had he any other name? The registers only record one name Christian name. There was a William Roberts whose will was proved in Nov[ember] 1821 & a John Roberts of Surrey whose will was [2] proved in May 1822.

I will write to the registrar of deaths at Epsom.

Yours v[er]y truly | S C Cockerell [signature]
