Dr Alfred R. Wallace

My Dear Sir,

In answer to your note of the 30th ult[imo], concerning map of the region around Lake Tahoe and the Yosemite I send you by mail today 1 map of Tahoe &c. and 3 maps of Yosemite

As these are the only copies that I have or that [2] can be had in the city, (after many inquiries) I beg that when you have gotten through with them you will be so kind as to return them to my address here.

I hope you will have a good time around the Lake and in the mountains.

The trip Grail in daylight from Summit station down to Verdi (a[nd][?] Reno) on a freight train with passenger caboose attached is worth making. In the regular train it is done by night & etc. [3]

One of the most interesting drives is above the R.R. station at "Summit" and go by map far down the old Emigrant Road to Donner Lake & thence to Truckee R[ail]R[oad]1. But as it is some years since I made it[?] I do not know what the facilities are for getting conveyance at Summit.

Yours very truly | George Davidson [signature]
