Dear Dr Wallace

I observe your book announced and must get it. You can command the publisher, but I have not yet been able to get one for my "Human Geography and Industry Planning" — written mainly two years ago!

I think the enclosed abstract of my lecture to the [word illeg] Section of the British Association recently will interest you.

I am lecturing at Ruskin College, and elsewhere, on the subject; and intend, if my resources will permit, to go through the country and lecture and arouse the public conscience. My whole mind is filled with indignation at the present condition of our "civilization" (we are nothing but a pack of undeveloped human monkeys as far as true collective life [2] is concerned)[.] In our slums children die or live in misery, whilst our resources are monopolized or frittered away. You will see I proposed the establishment of a "Society of Human Geography".

Can you not help me some way in this work?

Sincerely yours | C.R. Enock [signature]

Dr. Alfred Russel Wallace
