Dear Sir

Very many thanks for what seems to be a smashing indictment of Vaccination. Like most other people I have been brought up to believe in Vaccination, and I confess that only the solemn assurance of a scientific authority [2] backed up with evidence would have altered my views. This your little book2 has done & I trust it will have a wide circulation.

I am sorry I was too late to secure “The Wonderful Century”3

Yours very truly | George Redway [signature]

George Redway4

Dr. A. R. Wallace

Letter can be dated to 1898. Wallace’s Vaccination a Delusion, to which Redway later refers, was published in February 1898. Wonderful Century was published in April 1898. Presumably Redway was ‘too late to secure’ a pre-order copy of the Wonderful Century.
Alfred Russel Wallace, Vaccination a Delusion: Its Penal Enforcement a Crime (London: Swan Sonnenschein & Co., 1898).

Written in Wallace’s hand.
