Dr. ALFRED RUSSEL WALLACE, LL.D., D.C.L., F.R.S.,
Broadstone,
Wimborne.
Dear Dr. Wallace,
I have to thank you for your kind letter of May 5th. I do not think that the "Delineator" would be prepared to take 1,000 words on the subject of "Are the Dead Alive?". [sic] They have only authorized me to get for them 400 words, and all those who have contributed to the series as yet have kept me within this limit.
I think that the "Delineator" would be satisfied with a statement of beliefs and opinions from you, as you suggest, and would be willing to pay £5 for this, if I can count on it on Tuesday morning.
I am, | Yours faithfully, | V M Alcock [signature]
