My dear Mr Wallace,
I cannot tell you how much pleased I was by your letter on the [2 words illeg.] in "Nature" last week. The illustrations it gave seemed most admirable and just to the point I had felt that Cubewells[?] notions were quite unusual as I tried to explain in my letter on the same paper but your explanation was [2] [1 word illeg.] better than mine giving as it did such very apt instances.
Believe me to be | Yours truly | Robert Ball [signature]
