LIVERPOOL.
9. March 1898
Dear Dr Wallace
How extremely kind of you to take so much trouble & to send me both a full letter, & an article.
I find your letter most interesting & shall esteem it a privilege to be allowed to read half of it at the next meeting of the Synthetic Society,1 in order to remove any misleading impression I may have caused by my flysheet: — though I have never posed for a moment as having the slightest biological authority. [2] (at the next meeting Mr. Myers2 begins introduce the subject of quasi spiritualism: & I am saying something in the same direction.)
I had not a copy of Rankines' songs, but I was determined to get one for you, only your telegram arrived before I had succeeded.
With many thanks & great respect | I am faithfully yours | Oliver Lodge3 [signature]
