Dear Dr Wallace —

Dr Gregory is quite right. I very much wanted to have a letter from you but I am sure the first one you wrote must have miscarried as if I had received it I should have answered it at once.

As to the Jungle Books you are entirely right about keeping all Mowglies' adventures under one head: and in the new edition which was written are hanging[?] not I have gone[?] this — representing with "Mowglis' Mothers": and [1 word illeg.] with "20 the Ruth[?]" a tale of Klowglis' "cinleged[?]" life, which imperially[?] upheard[?] in "Many Directions[?]" but I don't think I shall over write more though[?] lates[?]. They come all of a price and went away in the same fashion. I very much hope [2 words illeg.] to hold[?] the honour of meeting you and explaining very great admiration for all that you have done. In the meantime believe[?] me | Very sincerely yours
