Dear Miss Wallace,
When I got home from some lectures in Oxford I was delighted to find your generous gift. It was a very kind though on your part and I thank you most heartily. I know the book, of course, but [2] I did not possess it till now, and I shall cherish it for your sake as well as for his.
I had the good fortune to meet Dr Wallace twice, and I was very proud that he had patience with me. He continued this kindness in some letters. I hold him in high reverence.
Pray accept my thanks and our kindest regards.
Yours sincerely | J. Arthur Thomson [signature]
