Broadstone, Wimborne.

Dear Dr. Wallace:

It is a pleasure to enclose herewith a copy of the Chapman & Hall agreement for "THE WORLD OF LIFE",3which I have made for you from our file copy. The subscription sales of the book did not reach the £100 limit, so that no further sum was due you above the £100 called for on the receipt of the complete manuscript.4

I understand that up to the present, some 1900 copies have been sold of the 12s. 6d. edition of the book, and about 500 of the Colonial edition, so that a substantial cheque should accompany the first royalty statement, which falls due on March 31st.

We have sent an unbound copy of the book today to Mme. Barbey Boissier5,6 in accordance with your wish, and hope that we can send you word soon that she will undertake the translation.

Yours very truly, | Curtis Brown7 [signature]
