Dear Professor Ramsay
Will you kindly give me the benefit of your support in an application I am making for a post under the Epping Forest Committee to superintend the carrying into execution the intentions of the new act. I am most anxious to get the post, as I have given much attention to the growth of trees, & should enjoy the work. Sir J. Hooker3, & Sir J. Lubbock4 have both signed copies of the enclosed memorial, and I trust you will do the same.
I remain | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
