Frith Hill, Godalming

June 11th, 1885

Dear Mr. Harrison1

I am very sorry if I misquoted your words, but my authority was a report in the "Daily News"2 of Feb[ruary] 25th 1884,— and, curious to say, I attained from one of our members a proof, which I think he received from you, & which contains corrections wh. appear in the printed report. This proof I enclose. The matter is of little importance, but I [2] have entirely quoted your published words.

Believe me | Yours very sincerely | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

Frederic Harrison Esq.

P.S. If you did use the words I quoted I do not in the least complain of them. They were quite natural, & as others no doubt think as you did I took the opportunity of stating a few personal facts.
