Dear Dr. Sclater2

I want to dispose of my South American bird ‘skins’, (reserving a few of the showy ones as a momento) & I thought you might perhaps know some one beginning to collect who might wish to have them, as they have been all named by you.

If I find no purchaser I shall send them, with a large lot of Eastern skins, to Steven’s3 sale rooms.

Perhaps you will kindly let me know what you think they are worth [2] per. specimen on the average.
