Dear Sclater

I send [on other]3 side a statement of the number of my Amagar4 Bird-skins.

They include the whole of the of the lot you had to catalogue5, except about a dozen of the showey chattuers etc. all common species. Almost all have localities, & your names.

There seems to be one Goatsucker6,7 which I have got named Nyctidromus Derbyanus, from Merciana, not included in your list. There are 2 specimens of it.

[2] As there are very few duplicates there are probably 250 species or more.

I have also a good lot perhaps 500 or 600 skins of Eastern Birds, consisting of duplicates of my own collection, and a set of South Australian Birds, with some Indian, Chinese & European, obtained by exchange — almost all named and with localities. I sh[ould]? be glad to show these to any one who wants such8 a lot.

Yours faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace. [signature]
